This weeks Website Spotlight (or should I say the newest Website Spotlight as I haven’t really been keeping with the weekly format.) is: Review in Haiku

Like a Haiku, its a pretty brief and simple site. Elegantly put together with a papery muted tone. Even the one ad on the page doesn’t jump at you as it blends nicely but noticeably in the page. The only things that jump off the page are the color-coded entries rated on a scale of five from great to awful. Yes they are the writer’s opinions as I don’t agree with some of the author’s ratings but nevertheless the color codes are a great choice because before I read a haiku review I already know what its rated.

And the haikus are pretty great as well, some being funny (like the Good Luck Chuck review), others being detailed in brevity, and others barely relating to the movie. So in the spirit of the site, here goes my haiku in review:

FAIL became the shorthand way to gloat about any humiliation, major or minor. Failblog.org gathers these user submitted pictures and videos in an easy to laugh at format. The only thing I don’t recommend doing is going to the comments on the site. It definitely is full of FAIL with Douchebags yelling "first!" or other internet idiots.

I know I enjoy more from the site but there are TONS so randomly looking through them, some of my favorites are:

Blending many human elements like romance and sarcasm together with mathematics and language makes for some really funny, charming, and thought provoking web comics.

There are so many to go through but the two favorites of mine so far are:

 My favorite of the two shown above is the bottom one. Its great how the scientific word– angular momentum and its definition takes you one way and its "punchline"  throws you another way, a very charming direction.

The site also allows you to embed the comics as seen above.

A site by a three-time cancer survivor using the internet to promote education about cancer, stories about struggling, and overcoming the sickness. Alicia also shares stories of an uplifting and introspective nature with lesson that even if you weren’t cancer stricken the lessons understood are for anybody.

Like the two stories that stick in my mind about the man with only one leg and the story about her friend who tried every appetizer on the menu because she wouldn’t have a chance later and the lesson learned from that evening.

If you are diagnosed with cancer, this is a good site for support and understanding. And if you’re not, it is stll a good site to help support cancer research and a place to learn the lessons of life and living.

Every week I’ll be spotlighting a website I think is really great. This weeks spotlight: Threadless.com!

I’ve been a customer of Threadless.com for a long time now. Since 2005 I believe. What’s great about the site is that first and foremost it is a community. Participants vote on their favorite designs and the winners have the shirt made. With threadless’ success, they’ve expanded the outfit with fancier printing techniques and more exotic inks. They’ve also expanded to other sites such as Type tees where its all about slogan on shirts, a Select Series with shirts designed by artists, and Threadless Kids with items for the cute widdle babies.

The reason I like Threadless.com is that its such a great place to find a unique design where plenty of people comment on it and only the savvy know you got it from Threadless.com. Since Threadless is still having their $5 shirt sale I encourage you to pick up a few.
