A Mom and Son Tradition
So we do it every year. Well, every year for the last few years. It has become a tradition for my mom and me.
Every Christmas time my mom and I make and bake gingerbread people. I say people becuase I use two cutouts; one a boy, the other a transsexual– haha kidding its a girl.
But let me back up and put some things in perspective.
My mom has three kids all boys no girls. I feel that a lot of times my mom misses out on some of the stuff she would do if she had a daughter. So I bake with her. Its something I can do with her that can be considered "girly" but not extremely "girly" Naw I meen? heh.
Being the middle child of the three I think I get a good amount of time to think about these things. Plus lets be honest I enjoy making the cookies. i’m not the biggest fan of gingerbread cookies but working with my hands, with the dough, making the frosting is something that feels good, especially if the cookies taste great. my mom being there is just a big plus. Its almost like working on a machine and making it work.
The activity was all inclusive. it wasn’t like my mom made the cookies as I played COD 4 on Xbox 360 or anything. Most of the time she’d measure and I’d stir or I’d prepare an ingredient. When it came to rolling out the dough and making the cutouts that was all me.

She and I decorated some of the cookies with some store bought and home made frosting with custom colors.
when all is said and done we both had an enjoyable time. My mom got to spend time with a son of hers and a middle child spent time with his mom. Even if they see each other a lot anyway
Next mom and son time: Fishing?
